Today was the 2009 Sparkling Concert with Big Bang, FT Island, SG Wannabe and Shin HyeSung. I enjoyed myself immensely and have uploaded about 300 pictures of varying quality for your viewing pleasure. Follow the cut for the best images and quick concert summary.
Shin HyeSung – 1st Time

I’ve only really listened to a little of his work before and wasn’t really sure what he would be performing this time. All his music was good an upbeat which was good news because I wasn’t really in the mood for slow ballads. He came on with a backup band for his first performance and then he had dancers for the second and third. His vocals were really good and I think it felt more strange being so close to him because I had been watching him on Family Outing.
FT Island – 1st Time

I haven’t listened to FT Island much since their first album, but they did perform their first hit single and then some of their newer stuff. This is my first time seeing them and I’m really glad I did because they sound great live. The new guy got a really good response from the crowd and everyone’s playing was good. Their drummer seemed a bit out of it, but I suppose that’s standard for a drummer. I will definitely be looking into their newer music this weekend.
SG Wannabe – 1st Time

Not really something I would normally listen to but I do appreciate that their vocal performance was good. There was some serious screaming from the girls around me when they came on which was quite surprising, but I found myself singing along where I could, even in the ballads. ‘La La La‘ is a good song live.
Big Bang – 2nd Time

Pretty much the reason I was there in the first place. The atmosphere was never going to compare to the Big Show, but just seeing them again was great. They started off with Last Farewell, then How Gee, Haru Haru and Sunset Glow. They also performed Lies as an encore. Seungri looked really tired – in fact, they all did.
All in all, it was another great experience and I was really happy to see three of the four artists for the first time. Next time, I promise I will get sharper images and more actions shots. I’m still getting to grips with my camera but I’ll look into the perfect settings for concert shooting.
