2NE1 released their digital single today for their debut hit song, Fire today along with two versions of the music video – Space Ver. and Street Ver.. Personally, I much prefer the Street Ver. but whichever one you choose to watch, you’ll notice that the song never really goes anywhere. Shame.
There was obviously a lot of hype surrounding the release and debut of this group and the song has suffered a little because of it in my eyes. I was definitely expecting a bit more from it. I spoke with a friend of mine last night and we both agreed that while the song has potential and threatens to be good, it never quite gets there. I like the beat and the rap is good, but it’s missing a chorus line that really grabs you. I’ll still be interested to see their performances on TV.
Street Ver.
This is my personal favorite because I kinda like the style they’ve got going. One thing I didn’t notice the first time round that certainly caught my attention when I watched it again this morning was when Minzy pops her chest out. I think it makes it worse that she’s younger than my little brother and yet she looks old enough to date me. Seeing GD in the video for a split second was good though even though he looked a bit of a ‘tard.
Space Ver.
I preferred the intro by CL in this version because I’m not a big fan of expensive cars and stuff in music videos. The Space Ver. is a bit strange but as a friend of mine said, there’s a bit of something in both versions.

I feet the same way about the song, but in my case, I think a lot of that comes from how overhyped the group was. YG has been advertising their debut for months now, and I really expected to love them because I like Big Bang so much (btw, I bought the Big Show Live album based on your post and I was not let down at all).
In terms of both styling and music I’m not quite on board with this group yet… I’ll wait and and see what else they have to offer though.
At least they don’t sound anything like Big Bang :)
I know what you mean… It’s missing a hook, like lolli-lolli-lolli-pop :D The first 30s in the teaser was really promising, but then it just didn’t follow through. I still like the song though. It’s alright for a debut song. The girls do have a lot of attitude, especially CL! Looking forward to how they handle their performances, and hoping that Sandara’s voice is halfway decent.
Speaking of Big Show, I’ve seen the fancams, but the TBS release of the concert was amazing. I know they cut off a lot of parts, but I loved all the remixes, especially Lies. I’m gonna be in Seoul in a few weeks! (: Really excited, and hope I get a chance to watch them perform, because I heard they’re going to be at the CYON B-boys champs.
