Watching ‘Drag Me To Hell’ with 예진

Caffe Latte Double Cinnamon CappuccinoToday was another day out at the movies, this time with 예진. We started off the day with a walk around 인사동 looking for a gift for a friend of hers, then we followed it with a bite to eat and a trip to the movie theater to see Drag Me To Hell. Unlike yesterday with 아람, I didn’t manage to take any pictures, so I had to wait until I got back to the apartment.

Oh, and Happy Kiss Day!

We met at 중로3가역 on our way to 안국역. I wasn’t really paying attention but out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that someone was going to cut across me and I looked up to see 예진 walking along, listening to her iPod. I looked at her for a second because I wanted to make sure before I poked her, and she realised and stopped. We took the train to the station and walked to 인사동 where tourists usually go to buy cheap, Korean-y things. We bought some little trinkets for her friends and we walked on to the movie theater.

We didn’t have to wait for the movie long, so we sat down and had some ice cream from Natuur. It was my first time eating from there and it was some mighty fine ice cream. We talked for a bit about things and how it had been a stupidly long time since we’d seen each other, then we headed to Screen 10.

Drag Me To Hell

'Drag Me To Hell' TicketDefinitely not a movie I would have thought to see, and one that I could have done without. It’s quite gross in places, with people vomiting at each other and old ladies coughing up phlegm. Also, it’s into the whole, quick-flashy-scary thing which had me jump in my seat more than a few times. I don’t know, it just didn’t really do that much for me but I was glad to see it anyway. I just like sitting in movie theaters these days and this one was a really small screen which only could have sat about a hundred people. Of that space, only about six seats were filled. We sat at the front and she hid from the movie for what I would say was sixty percent of it.

After the movie, we walked around looking for somewhere to eat and settled on a little place near where we ate last time. We always seem to end up having chicken cutlets when we meet, so next time I think I’ll take charge and find a good place to eat in advance. We both suck at making choices it would seem. We talked about some more random things and then walked to the station to go home.

Picking up supplies at Home Plus

I decided that because I was busy yesterday too, I hadn’t had time to pick up some supplies and needed something for the evening. Thankfully, the bus I take from 서울역 drops me right outside Home Plus. I usually go shopping early in the morning to avoid the rush and I didn’t even have to get inside to realise that it was going to be a lot busier than usual. Well, as I was weaving through the hordes of shopping trolleys, I met Kevin; a student from my Fantasy 2-5 class. Well, he found me actually. He started tugging at my sleeve and when he was sure it was me, he started jumping up and down and shouting, “알렉스다! (“It’s Alex!”)“. I said hello to his mother and then went on my way, only for him to find me again and follow me around while I did my shopping.

I got more than a few strange looks, being a tall foreigner and chatting with a young Korean boy, but people are always staring anyways. We had some limited conversations and he asked questions like, “Alex, do you live alone?” and, “What did you do today?“. Luckily I was only doing a small shop and he left me alone once I got to the checkout. He did help me buy some candy which I’ll no doubt have to share with him and the rest of the class tomorrow.
