Today’s fandom round-up will be a written post instead of my usual podcasts. All this week I’ve had a rather fugly blemish on my chin, and no matter what crazy effects Photo Booth gives me, I can’t hide it. Enjoy this condensed, but far more focused fandom post under the cut.
Boy’s Generation – Gee
I was a bit late to the party on this one and only watched it in it’s entirety last night. Something I feel that deserves mention is that the jeans, while extremely colourful, were not skinny enough. That’s not to say I wanted to see boys prance around in brightly coloured skinny jeans, but I do feel it would have been more accurate. Oh, and what the hell is 조권 like? He couldn’t be anymore flamboyantly ghei if he tried.
Seeing 소녀시대 appear in the end to finish the song was a little disappointing because while watching them prance around in skinny jeans is always good, I thought they missed a great chance to double up and perform together. Sure, the stage would have been a little cramped, but I’m sure they could have managed it.
BIG BANG – GARA GARA GO!! [Korean Ver.]
My initial stance on this song was one of disinterest because I don’t like listening to Korean artists’ Japanese releases. After a while, I gave it go and became hugely addicted to it. Then, they released a Korean version of the song and I scoffed at the name because when you’re adding one or two lines in Korean, changing some English, and not even removing the Japanese, it hardly seems like a different version. As is usually the case though, I grew to like the new chorus arrangement and now I can’t listen to the Japanese version.
2NE1 – I Don’t Care
As I may have mentioned in a previous post, I wasn’t initially taken by this song, but recently, it’s the only song I can hear in my head, despite listening to 가라가라고!! almost non-stop on iTunes. However, the more I listen to it and the more I watch the above music video, the more the song grows on me. I can’t say I was completely sold on the live performance on KBS Music Bank because of the awkward choreography involved in a mid tempo song. I’m sure it will improve in much the same way as their performances of Fire have.
EPIK HIGH – Remixing the Human Soul
I know some people are a little bummed about the delay of the next studio album while they work on this remix album, but I am seriously excited to hear these new versions. I can already tell that Fan and One will be my favorites and I told Tablo as much on my Twitter. I only hope that the packaging is even half as nifty as it was for MAP THE SOUL.
“Fandom? That’s over next to the milk.”
I’ve mentioned my being exposed to fandom while shopping at Home Plus before [see BIG HEAD BONG!] and today I bring you another. I’d seen this before, but while I was trying to decide what coffee to buy, I decided to record so you could see how awesome it is to have something as mundane as food shopping, awesomed up by fandom.
Hopefully next weekend we can return to our normal broadcasting schedule and bring you a short video podcast. I emphasize short because I’m considering a self imposed time limit of between one and two minutes. Might help me to keep on track. See you next week!
