It’s been a fairly slow week for my fandoms and I almost decided not to bother with this update, but then I realised there were two live performances that I really wanted to talk about. Both BIG BANG and FT Island tore it up in Japan and Korea respectively and I’m going to talk about it under the cut.
In case you’re wondering what the post image above has to do with anything, it’s because this week I got my hands on a high quality version of the GARA GARA GO!! music video and the quality from GomTV is awesome. Also, as you can see, TOP is clearly posing for me.
BIG BANG Perform ‘ガラガラ GO!!’ on Music Station
I was told that it took 동방신기 a long time before they were invited to perform on Music Station, which just shows the popularity of BIG BANG in Asia. They started with a really awkward interview in which the hosts asked G-Dragon a question, he umm’d and ahh’d for a bit, looked like he might respond, then 태양 would jump in and rescue him. I don’t know why they don’t just put 태양 in front because he’s the most fluent in Japanese.
The performance itself was explosive. The choreography was tight and well timed, the vocals were crisp and the Japanese pronunciation sounded about right to my ears. It felt quite short but that’s fairly common for artists on Music Station and they included the important parts – rap and dance cut.
Did anyone else feel sorry for TOP having to keep looking back and forth between cameras?
FT Island Comeback Stage on SBS Inkigayo
You may well have read my post on FT Island’s new album and music video, so you know that I was super excited to see them perform. I couldn’t watch SBS Inkigayo today because I had other arrangements but I did catch the performance over at K Bites when I got home. I didn’t realise they were going to perform both 결혼해줘 and 바래. I had considered what other songs they might choose to promote, so I was doubley satisfied when I watched the video.
The performances were superb and the vocals sounded good and the instruments are great live. I was lucky enough to see FT Island at the Sparkling Concert, so I know that the live instruments really do make a difference. I definitely want to see them again. I had a bit of an issue with 홍기’s hair; not because it was red, but because it was a bit flat and plastic looking. Get it styled like the music video and I’ll be happy.
Can’t wait to see more performances on MBC Music Core and KBS Music Bank.
“What? Another round-up with no video?” *sadface* D:
I know, I know. I promised last weekend that the videos would return, but I’ve been busy this weekend with 진선 yesterday and going to the academy today, I just didn’t feel up to it. I make no promises about next weekend either because I currently have plans on both Saturday and Sunday, each of which will most likely have their own posts. So, you’ll just have to wait patiently until I decide to let you see me again. Torturous, I know.
In the meantime, enjoy this picture of me from yesterday. I know you’ve already seen it, but I haven’t got any more. Look, just get off my case will you!
