Summer is here! It’s to have lots of fun. I am sure many of you like to watch TV. Who is your favorite star? I personally like BIG BANG! They are great singers and good looking. Well, having a star you like is good. But, some kids really want to look like them too. And some kids want to be stylish. This about this: Don’t you think many kids in your school are following a trend? I have seen some kids trying to lose weight. and I have seen some kids buying new clothes to look good. Do you think all this is necessary? Let’s hear what Mike and Kate have to say.
Yes, let’s. It’s painful to read to be honest but I felt you had to experience it to get the full impact of the article. It’s painful even calling it an ‘article‘ to be honest. Below is the dialogue between our beloved Kate and Mike.
MIKE Ah, I love TVXQ and BIG BANG! I think they are so cool. I am learning their songs. But this is not good enough. I want to look just like them. That’s why I copy their hair styles all the time. And I need to lose some weight.
KATE Mike, you look just fine. I like them too. I like Girls’ Generation. Sure, I like their music. But, don’t you think you are doing too much? We are still kids. It’s very hard for us to look like them. Idolizing stars is OK, but we have to limit ourselves.
MIKE I understand you. However, it’s hard to control my feelings. Sometimes I dream of looking just like them. Honestly, I also want to stand out. Imagine if I looked like TOP from BIG BANG. I would be so popular in school. Since all my friends are ding the same thing, I want to fit in.
KATE Of course I understand your feelings. Well, I feel the same way sometimes. Looking good or pretty is nice. Hey, that’s not everything though. Your friends shouldn’t just like you because you look good. Don’t you want to become a good student? Don’t you want good marks?
Besides, you’ve still got time to change your looks. You will grow taller and bigger. Soon, we will all grow up to become good looking teenagers.
MIKE You really think so? I think you are right. I need to spend more time on my studies. I guess trying to look like the stars is not a good idea. But, I really want to lose some weight.
KATE Remember this, Mike. Looking good is a nice thing. And sure, do some exercise to lose weight. But, do all these for your own good. You shouldn’t do it to imitate someone’s image. We all have an idol. Mike, do you still like the video game you played last year? You probably don’t. It’s the same with stars you like. Will you change your hair style again? Will you try to gain weight if he or she looks big? Do you see what I mean? Let’s be proud of who we are.
