Dong Bang Shin Ki Do It Best

I‘ve kept to myself what I thought about the Dong Bang Shin Ki vs. Sm Entertainment situation, but now that things are coming to a head, I’m just going to put my simple, non-ranty opinion out there.

TVXQ was where it all started for me in terms of listening to K-Pop and that then lead me on to other artists such as Super Junior and BIG BANG. It feels like forever that this contract dispute has been going on between the boys and SM Entertainment and it looks like it’s coming to a head.

Cast your minds back to third album promotions – have you ever seen a K-Pop artist cause that much excitement? Perhaps you have, but I haven’t. How many times did they perform Jung.Ban.Hap? They were on every single TV show and performed almost every day. It was epic.

I WANT THIS AGAIN

Sure, there have been big comebacks since then, but still nothing like that. When BIG BANG came out with Lies, it was huge, but not as huge. I think that says a lot.

A Break Up?

If I’m reading this correctly, then Yunho and Changmin have called out the other members and told them to sort out their issues with SM Entertainment, or don’t bother coming back. To me, that sounds a little harsh and I’m not entirely sure that’s what Yunho of all people wants. He always struck me as the sort who’d want to keep them together through all of this. Perhaps he’s just coming to the realization that it’s not going to end well and he needs to protect himself. I don’t blame him.

    As their fans, we should try to understand their current situation. I don't really trust the statement made by yunho and changmin is reliable. Since both of them are still under SM's control, who knows SM is the one that produce the statement and confuses us? We should be rational and wait for the court's next decision. and I am totally agree that DBSK is the one that bring us into the K-pop world ahahaha.

    i'm not a fan of DBSK anymore but i wouldn't want to see them break up. when any band breaks up its depressing. :(
    as for yunho, everyone has their reasons as to which arguement they support. or maybe he just got frustrated and said it. we wouldn't know.
    anyways. lets just hope for the best. :D and that they will stay together.

  • 2009 is worst year of boy band ever. The past couple of days, the Kpop industry was down because of 2PM/SuperJunior/BigBang(GD) and now DBSK. I read all the posts at allkpop and that Yunho&Changmin still in SM&having comeback next year so I'll take that as SM is already have solo plans for them? But i love the fact that Cassie speak up about the situation. I love how mature they are. I'm always be loyal to DBSK, Super Junior& Big Bang

    I am pretty darn upset about this. Super Junior was the first K-Pop band I ever listened to, but shortly after that, I started to LOVE DBSK. They're fantastic...great performers. I would be really really depressed if they broke up over this crap.

    Also, I agree that Yunho probably wouldn't say something that harsh. From watching various interviews and the AADBSK3 clips (because I watch that stuff a lot, being the k-pop nerd I am) they all seem almost like brothers. I don't think they'd be so cold to one another.

    i don't want DBSK to break up... i'm not a fan or anything but those boys are so HUGE when it comes to kpop! i'm obviously a Big Bang fan but I do know that kpop pretty much has the picture of DBSK.

    In Yunho's case... I'm pretty much disappointed. He's the leader and he shouldn;t be throwing out ultimatums like that. It reminded me of H.O.T's incident where the leader also took SM's side. I do realize that they have to fend for themselves at the end, but DBSK didn't make it big because of the leader. Let's face it in Japan, Jaejoong is their front man.

    I do hope they solve this but now that they've shown that they're not united this may bring some hot blood between the members. DBSK may never have that kind of bond again. Just like the Cassies are saying... "Keep the Faith". :)

  • TVXQ wasn't the first KPOP group I adored when I discovered KPOP. But it's my favorite band of all-time because they are one of the few greatest performers who can bring "it" on stage like no other performers can do.

    It would be heart-breaking if they'd split up. I will cry, honestly. I can't imagine TVXQ not being TVXQ together. I wish they'll be able to sort it out. If they can't deal with SM, then I think it's about time that they separate from their management (like Rain did with JYP).

    Please, Dong Bang Shin Ki, don't split up.

  • Same, DBSK is the one that got me into KPOP. My fav are DBSK, SUPER JUNIOR AND BIG BANG<3; Loving 2NE1!

  • Oh I really hope they won't break up~ They were one of my first favourite groups that I constantly listened to when I was still new to the K-pop scene... I hope all things will be sorted out soon and that there will be a positive end to this whollleeeee situation :S
